1 Dough Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 1/2 cups plain flour.
02 - 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste.
03 - 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder.
04 - 1 stick (1 cup) of unsalted butter, softened.
05 - 1 cup white sugar.
06 - 1 large egg and 1 extra yolk.
07 - 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla.
08 - 1 1/2 tablespoons of flour (for strawberry section).
09 - 1 tablespoon of strawberry preserves.
10 - 1/2 teaspoon extract of almond.
11 - Pink coloring for food.
12 - 1 1/2 tablespoons of cocoa.
13 - 1 ounce of melted semi-sweet chocolate.

# Instructions:

01 - Stir salt, baking powder, and flour together in a bowl.
02 - Cream softened butter and sugar until fluffy, then mix in eggs and vanilla before adding the dry mixture.
03 - Divide the dough evenly into three portions, about 10 ounces each.
04 - Blend one portion with the strawberry jam, food coloring, almond extract, and extra flour.
05 - Add the melted chocolate and cocoa powder to another portion of dough and mix well.
06 - Layer the strawberry dough, then plain dough, and finish with the chocolate dough in a lined loaf pan.
07 - Let it chill for a minimum of 3 hours or freeze for about an hour.
08 - Slice into 1/2-inch pieces and trim the edges if needed.
09 - Bake for 11-13 minutes at 350°F until the edges are just turning golden.

01 - Gel food colors work best for vibrancy.
02 - Can be frozen for prep ahead of time.
03 - Optional: dip in chocolate after baking for extra flavor.
