In a big pan, fry the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up into little pieces. Once browned fully, drain out the extra grease and set the sausage aside.

Using a large bowl, mash together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch mix until smooth and everything's combined well.

Pour the sausage, diced tomatoes (if you want), and both kinds of cheeses into the cream cheese mixture. Stir it all up until it looks even.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Get an 8×8-inch baking dish greased up, pour in your dip mix, smooth the top, and sprinkle some extra cheese if you'd like.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until it's warm and bubbly with gooey cheese on top.

Take it out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve it warm with chips, crackers, or vegetables.
