02 - 1 cup of rich heavy cream
03 - 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh thyme leaves
04 - 2 cups of Gruyere cheese, grated
05 - 6 medium potatoes, sliced thinly (about 1/8 inch)
06 - Salt and pepper, as needed
07 - 2 cans of French onion soup

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch dish to stop sticking.
02 - Start with half the potato slices spread on the dish. Sprinkle salt and pepper, then pour one can of onion soup and half the cream across them.
03 - Put the rest of the potatoes on top, followed by the other can of soup and the rest of the cream. Spread Gruyere cheese and thyme over it all.
04 - Cover the dish with foil and bake it for 45 minutes. Take off the foil, sprinkle on those crispy onions, and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes until it turns golden brown.

# Notes:

01 - Layers of cheesy potatoes with French onion soup flavors, topped with crunchy onions for a hearty dish.
02 - You can prep this up to a day ahead. Keep it chilled in the fridge until baking.
03 - Swap Gruyere with Swiss cheese if you prefer!
