Beef Spaghetti Sauce (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
02 - 1 medium onion, diced
03 - 2 pounds of ground beef, lean

→ Tomato Base

04 - 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
05 - 1 can (28 oz) crushed San Marzano tomatoes
06 - 1 tablespoon concentrated tomato paste

→ Seasonings

07 - 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
08 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
09 - 2 tablespoons dried Italian herbs
10 - 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt

# Instructions:

01 - Heat a big, heavy pot over medium heat and cook the beef for 5 minutes. Drain the extra grease and toss in the onion. Cook until it softens and looks clear.
02 - After adding the garlic and tomato paste, stir it for around a minute. Then pour in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and all the seasonings.
03 - Use the 15-oz tomato sauce can to measure water. Pour it into the pot, lower the heat, and cover the pot lightly. Stir every now and then, cooking for 45-50 minutes until it’s nice and thick.
04 - Spoon over some cooked pasta you like best. Sprinkle Parmesan and fresh parsley on top.

# Notes:

01 - This hearty sauce comes together in just around an hour, but it’ll taste like it’s been cooking for ages. Want even deeper flavors? Simmer it for 2 hours instead, adding half a cup of extra water.
02 - It stays good in the fridge for up to 5 days or freezes well for about 3 months. Portion it out if you want to plan your meals ahead of time.
