01 - 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
02 - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
03 - 1 tablespoon baking powder
04 - 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
05 - 1 pound breakfast sausage
06 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
07 - 1 3/4 - 2 cups buttermilk

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 450°F and coat a 9x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
02 - Warm up a large pan over medium-high heat. Cook the sausage, stirring until there’s no pink left, about 8-10 minutes. Drain the grease on paper towels.
03 - Combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Slowly add buttermilk, stirring until the mix gets sticky. Throw in the sausage and cheese and mix gently.
04 - Pour melted butter into your baking dish. Drop the batter in and smooth it out evenly. Slice the dough into 9 squares.
05 - Pop the dish on the middle rack and bake for 25-30 minutes. Turn it once halfway, and cover with foil if it’s browning too much. It’s done when the top’s golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
